Several Shootings Occurred During Halloween Weekend in the US; Five People Killed

At least five people were killed and dozens injured in several shootings that took place during the Halloween weekend in various cities across the United States. The most serious incident occurred in Dallas, Texas, where four people were killed and another 15 injured in three separate shootings, reports Associated Press.

Dallas Police Chief Daniel Komon reported that the shootings occurred over the course of one hour and 15 minutes in the Deep Ellum entertainment district. Law enforcement is investigating whether the three incidents are connected and what caused the violence. Several people have been arrested, but the police have not yet disclosed the exact number of detainees or the charges against them. No officers were injured.

Another incident took place in Birmingham, Alabama near Legion Field stadium following the annual Magic City Classic football game. One person was killed and eight injured. According to Police Chief Michael Picket, most of the fans had already left the stadium area when a shooting broke out nearby on Greymont Avenue, where vendors had set up their tents. One person was arrested for questioning and the police also seized several firearms.

In Newark, Delaware late Saturday night, six people sustained gunshot wounds near the University of Delaware campus. All were transported to hospitals. A shooting early Sunday morning in Bloomington, Illinois resulted in the death of a 19-year-old woman and another woman in critical condition. Six others suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Following a shooting early Sunday morning in Fayetteville, Arkansas, six people with gunshot wounds were taken to hospitals. Preliminary police reports indicate the shooting was preceded by an argument. No arrests have been made so far.

The circumstances of most incidents and the possible motives of the attackers are being established.
