The deposed mayor of Antalya faces up to 44 years in prison on corruption charges

Muhittin Bojek, the ousted mayor of Antalya, Turkey, could be found guilty of multiple corruption charges and sentenced to up to 44 years in prison. As TRT TV channel reports, the relevant requirements are included in the indictment prepared by the General Prosecutor's Office of Antalya and accepted by the court.

In addition to the former mayor, 40 other suspects are involved in the 702-page indictment.

They face charges of extortion (through coercion), illicit enrichment, money laundering, fraud and defamation.

The investigative body demands that Bojek be found guilty of extortion, illegal enrichment and money laundering. At the same time, the indictment emphasizes that the mentioned offenses were committed regularly and systematically.
