In the capital of Greenland, Nuuk, a man tried to raise the American flag, but did not manage to do it, because he was stopped by passers-by, reports the Danish television station TV2, referring to the local police.
"The man tried to raise the American flag in Nuuk. Passers-by stopped the man before he could raise the flag," the message reads.
It is noted that the police is conducting an investigation.
Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark. However, US President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that the island should become part of the US.
The authorities of Denmark and Greenland have warned Washington against attempts to annex the island, stating that they expect respect for their territorial integrity.
