President of Yemen's Presidential Management Council, Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi, proposed holding a general conference of the political forces of the south of the country in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, to resolve the crisis in the east of the republic.
This was reported by the SABA news agency of Yemen, referring to a government source.
In response to calls from residents of the southern states and non-governmental organizations concerned about "attempts to monopolize" the political process, al-Alimi appealed to the Saudi leadership to "sponsor and organize" the conference.
Riyadh once again noted that the southern problem has deep historical roots, but "the only way to solve it is through dialogue within the framework of a comprehensive political settlement of the Yemen issue."
