The “Past” newspaper writes: In the Armenian political field, opposition forces have already made a joint statement, forming an agenda for nationwide unity. It has been signed by the parties “Freedom,” “Country to Live,” “Prosperous Armenia,” “Democratic Alternative,” “Armenian National Congress,” “Armenian Revolutionary Federation,” “Hayakwe,” “Armenia Alliance,” “Republican Party of Armenia,” “I Am Armenia,” “Heritage,” “New Era,” and “Strong Armenia.”
After this important milestone, the process enters a new phase. Fully aware of the grave challenges facing statehood, the political forces continue to unite their efforts. Despite differences in approaches on certain issues, the initiative has defined fundamental goals: to reject the imposition of the Aliyev constitution, to achieve peace without unilateral concessions or territorial losses, to protect the national identity and the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, and also to restore democratic freedoms and rights.
The signatory forces call on all public and political figures to join this unity. Around this agenda, representatives of the “Strong Armenia” and “Armenia” alliances met with intellectuals who expressed full support for the unified stance. Participants in the gathering emphasized that this step has been long awaited. Singer Arsen Grigoryan underlined that unity is indispensable to protect the country's sovereignty and prevent persecutions against the Church. Poet Husik Aran added that the Declaration of Independence is the "birth certificate" of statehood, and abandoning it means abandoning statehood. During the discussion, it was noted that this opposition statement goes beyond narrow party circles, becoming a symbol of broad public resistance.
The expansion of the wave of unity is also evidenced by the official joining of the “Wings of Unity” party to the initiative. The party declared that in this crisis situation, past disagreements have no place, as there are interconnected dangers from external impositions and internal pressures. According to the party, the authorities present fulfilling external demands as a peace condition, while labeling those who resist as obstacles.
“Wings of Unity” also strongly condemned the criminal actions and arrests against Samvel Karapetyan and related persons, stating that these are aimed at suppressing the opposition’s resistance and preparing the ground for constitutional changes.
According to the organizers, cooperation should be built on principles of legal equality, mutual respect, and accountability to society, aiming to achieve a dignified peace without conceding national interests.
