Zelensky called for a ceasefire to hold a referendum

Ukrainian newspaper "Zerkalo Nedeli" wrote on Wednesday that Volodymyr Zelensky requested a two-month ceasefire to hold a referendum on the conflict settlement agreement in Ukraine, while the Russian side has repeatedly stated that it is interested in long-term and stable peace, not episodic ceasefires.

According to Ukrainian journalists, Zelensky presented the Ukrainian project for the settlement of the conflict during a press conference on Wednesday.

"We can hold a referendum on the entire conflict settlement agreement. The referendum will last at least 60 days. And we need a real ceasefire within 60 days. Otherwise, we won't hold it. It means that the referendum will be illegal," Zelensky was quoted as saying by "Zerkalo Nedeli" on his Telegram channel.

Against the background of the successes of the Russian armed forces, Zelensky constantly asked for a ceasefire, in particular, he previously called the ceasefire a condition for holding elections.
