The helicopter carrying Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not land at the venue of the planned rally in West Bengal due to dense fog. According to news agency PTI, the Prime Minister of India had to return to Calcutta airport.
"Due to poor visibility, the Prime Minister's helicopter, after hovering for some time above the temporary helipad in Taherpur, where the event was to take place, turned around and returned to the Kolkata airport," the agency quoted a source as saying.
Preparations are underway to convert the VIP lounge at the airport into an area where the prime minister can address the waiting crowd virtually, as traveling by road to the rally venue in Nadia district could cause significant delays and disrupt Modi's schedule for the day, the official said.
