Tourists must pay 2 euros to enter the Trevi Fountain in Rome

Starting from February 1, 2026, the Rome authorities will set a fee of 2 euros to enter the Trevi Fountain in the capital. This measure will only apply to tourists and not residents, according to the official website of the city of Rome.

The new rule aims to regulate the flow of people, protect the monument and improve the quality of its use, the publication notes.

Construction of the Trevi Fountain began in 1732. It became famous in part thanks to Federico Fellini's The Sweet Life (1960).
The scene of the protagonist Sylvia in the fountain has become an iconic part of world cinema.
