The era of US dominance over Europe is over, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said.
The German chancellor noted that the era of "Pax Americana" ("American peace") is over for Europe and Germany.
"The decades of Pax Americana are over for us. Nostalgia will not help. This is a fact. The Americans now defend their interests very stubbornly. And, therefore, we have to protect ours," said Merts.
He emphasized that Western countries should preserve the NATO alliance as long as possible, despite the changes in transatlantic relations, and prepare for fundamental changes in relations with the United States, but not for breaking ties.
