The United States welcomes the decision of the new Bolivian authorities to restore diplomatic relations with Israel, which were severed in 2023, and considers this step the opening of a new era of cooperation between Washington and the republic, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said.
"Bolivia made a historic decision to restore diplomatic relations with Israel. As Bolivia begins a new era, the United States sees a bright future ahead," Rubio wrote in X.
Before this, US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau met with Fernando Aramayo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the new government of Bolivia, and also emphasized Washington's willingness to expand cooperation and help the country's economic development.
Bolivia severed relations with Israel in October 2023 due to the actions taken by the Jewish state in the Gaza Strip. The Bolivian authorities called the military campaign in the Palestinian enclave a "crime against humanity".
