Danish military intelligence has questioned the US role in securing Europe and identified a possible threat from Washington, according to the service's annual report.
"The United States uses economic power in the form of threats of high tariffs to impose its will and no longer rules out the use of military force, even against allies. There is uncertainty about the role of the United States as a guarantor of European security," the report said.
The agency also noted growing competition in the Arctic, particularly due to Washington's interest in Greenland. "This attention increases the threat of espionage and attempts to further influence all parts of the Kingdom of Denmark," the country's intelligence agency said.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that Greenland should join the United States. He threatened to impose high trade tariffs on Denmark if it did not give up the island. Even during his first term, Trump offered to buy Greenland. Greenland is part of Denmark as an autonomous territory.
