Poland is ready to transfer decommissioned MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine in exchange for Ukrainian missile and drone technology, according to a statement from the General Staff of the Polish Army.
"Negotiations with the Ukrainian side regarding the transfer of MiG-29 aircraft are underway," the document states.
"At the same time, in connection with the transfer of MiG-29 aircraft, negotiations are being conducted on the provision of missile technologies and drone technologies selected by Ukraine to Poland."
The Polish General Staff notes that the MiG-29s of the Polish Air Force have already reached the end of their service life, and "there are no prospects for their further modernization."
The tasks of the MiG-29 aircraft being withdrawn from the fleet will be performed by F-16 aircraft and FA-50 light fighters purchased from South Korea," reported the Polish General Staff.
The number of MiG-29s transferred to Ukraine has not yet been announced.
