US President Donald Trump announced that eight to nine fights of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament to be held at the White House will be title fights, the Home of Fight portal reports.
"There will be eight or nine fights for the championship title. The most ambitious fights that ever took place [within the UFC]," the president said in an interview with the portal.
In early July, Trump announced that a separate UFC tournament would be held on the grounds of the White House as part of events dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026.
According to him, it was a "full-scale battle" for the championship title, for which 20,000-25,000 spectators were expected. Trump later announced that the tournament will take place on June 14, 2026.
Conor McGregor, the former two-division champion of the UFC, announced that he has signed a contract to participate in the UFC-sponsored tournament, which will take place at the White House.
