US President Donald Trump has announced that he will impose a 5% tariff on Mexico for violating the water supply agreement. The US president informed Truth Social about this.
"At this time, Mexico is not responding to US requests, and this is very unfair to American farmers who deserve much-needed water. That's why I've prepared documents that authorize a 5% tariff on Mexico if that water is not delivered immediately," Trump wrote.
As the "Washington Post" reported on May 17, 2024, Mexico has been violating the agreement for decades by "resisting the supply of water to the United States" because it is suffering from a drought.
