Abraham Hoveyan, honored builder of Russia and president of the Union of Armenians of Tyumen region, speaking about the death of the famous Soviet football player Nikita Simonyan, emphasized his contribution to the strengthening of the national identity of Russia. His words were quoted by the media. "For me, as someone who grew up in an Armenian family and devoted his life to Russia, the example of Nikita Pavlovich is particularly valuable. He, the son of the Armenian people, became a real Russian legend, the nation's favorite and the Labor hero of the entire country," he said.
Simonyan's death was announced on the evening of November 23. According to Alexander Mirzoyan, president of the Union of Russian Football Veterans, the football legend was hospitalized on the 20th due to poor health and remained there for three days.
