The US successfully tested a B61-12 tactical thermonuclear bomb without a warhead in August, the US Department of Energy's Sandia National Laboratory said in a statement.
It is noted that the tests were conducted at the test site of the state of Nevada on August 19-21.
During the tests, the American fifth-generation F-35 fighter jets delivered and dropped the above-mentioned weapons with inert warheads. The tests were conducted in coordination with the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and "marked an important milestone in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the weapon."
