19 people have been arrested during protests in Serbia

Serbian law enforcement agencies have arrested 19 people in protests. This was reported by EFE news agency.

Demonstrations took place in several cities of Serbia, including in Valevo, in the capital, and the second largest city in Novi.

The Serbian opposition has been holding protests for nine months. They started in 2024. After the collapse of reinforced concrete cover at the November 1, Novi Sadi railway station, 16 people died.

A group of protesters caught fire in the city of Vali. The police used tear gas. The demonstrators are demanding punishing those responsible for the tragedy, tighten the fight against corruption and hold snap elections.

Serbian President Alexander Vucich has said that the government will take severe measures against actions.
