In Italy, a court has made a mandatory condition for the Unicredit Bank to stop its activities in Russia if the Banco BPM absorption process begins. This is stated in the court decision, TASS reported.

The court considered it legal to leave the demand of the Italian government to UniCredit. Now the credit organization must wait for the government's new decision. Banco PM, in turn, expects Unicredit to provide clarifications on the acquisition process.

Andrea Orsel, CEO of UniCredit, noted that since 2022, the bank has repeatedly tried to leave Russia, but the sanctions impede the process.
