Former Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan has issued a statement.
"Samvel Karapetyan is my friend and a friend, so I do not explain what I say about what he thinks about him and these days, I will try to build my speech as objective and facts based. 1. Samvel Karapetyan has never been part of any government, no position has taken any position during the government, his financial capabilities and property have not been formed in Armenia. 2. Samvel Karapetyan has carried out his unprecedented and large-scale charitable activities in Armenia and Artsakh, not agreeing on the fact that he or her attitude towards that government.
This fact can be sure, even a brief look at the series of charities that he performed during these years (including the last seven years). 3. All Armenian benefactors, including S. Karapetyan, the Republic of Armenia and I hope that they will be treated in the future as a hearte, from which they expect a fair attitude towards their behavior towards the homeland.
4. Everyone in the Republic of Armenia has the right to have one's own opinion and expressed it, which may not be considered or pleasant to the opinion of this or that person, regardless of the circumstance of that person. 5. In the Armenian Diaspora, Samvel Karapetyan plays a special role not only thanks to his charities or financial assistance, but he has always tried to help our compatriots, including advice, to support, and paving sharp edges when needed.
6. S. Karapetyan has the right to have his attitude towards our Church, express his position and opinion on the recent events around the Church, to have participation in the discussion, solution and overcoming of this issue. 7. The version of the interpretation of Samvel Karapetyan's speech, which is based on the criminal process on him, is at least controversial, taking into account many ways to resolve issues, which could be found under those words (see point 5). 8. I think the attitude towards him is not just nor, in the popular language, he is humane.
9. In terms of the atmosphere (hatred, intolerance, opposite opinions, etc.), the day of the day, the competent state bodies will make a decision in accordance with the law, considering Samvel's biography.
I think that this controversial process can continue without the use of unacceptable detention from a legal and moral point of view. "
