WP. The European Union cannot provide Kiev with the necessary amount of weapons

The European Union cannot provide Ukraine with enough weapons and ammunition, so it intends to invest in Ukraine's defense industry, writes The Washington Post.

"I think that the realization that Europe is not capable of producing the weapons that Ukraine needs is starting to become apparent, and the easiest way for the Ukrainians is to do it themselves. If the Ukrainians have materials and money, they can solve this problem much faster on their own," the European diplomat, who wished to remain anonymous, told the newspaper.

The newspaper notes that the recent decision of the European Union to allocate 440 million dollars to restore Ukraine's defense industry is a new approach in the EU and reveals the shortcomings of their defense sector. Despite the fact that European countries and the United States have sent billions of dollars worth of weapons to Ukraine, their defense industries have long focused on an international environment with less conflict.
