Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Ashgabat, state agencies of the Russian Federation inform, Kommersant reports. Putin will meet with Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian, and will also participate in the forum "Relations between times and civilizations are the basis of peace and development." The presidents of the two countries plan to discuss bilateral issues and the escalation of the situation in the Middle East, the Kremlin said.
In addition to the president of the Russian Federation, the leaders of more than 10 countries, as well as heads of international organizations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the CIS, will participate in the forum. On October 8, Vladimir Putin hosted the CIS summit in the Kremlin.
The problems between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which have not been able to sign a peace agreement for several months, were also discussed.
