President Donald Trump visited California on Friday to survey the devastation of the Los Angeles area as wildfires continue to wreak havoc, softening the tough rhetoric he has used against the state in recent days, NBC News reported.
Trump was greeted by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom near the remains of the fire-ravaged neighborhood, which Trump said now looked like it had been "hit by a bomb."
After touring the blaze-ravaged areas, Trump said at a roundtable with lawmakers and officials that he would declare a state of emergency to speed up the response to the wildfires, which he called "infernos of death and destruction," and renewed calls for changes to the state's water policy.
