The Armed Forces of Ukraine are under threat of encirclement in the Velika Novosilka region in the south of the DRC, due to delays in the decision of the command to withdraw from the township. The Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung writes about this.
"The current scenario is reminiscent of the heavy retreat battles near Avdiivka a year ago and near Vuhledar in October. In both cases, the High Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine waited too long in a desperate situation and gave the order to retreat too late. ", it is said in the statement.
The publication points out that in Velika Novosilka, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were cut off from the supply lines. The soldiers of the Ukrainian army in the village "can only hope that they will reach a safe place on foot", leaving behind heavy military equipment.
"After the expected fall of Chasov Yar and Velikaya Novoselka, the Russian armed forces will probably be able to use their superiority to advance further than before. There are few topographic obstacles north of Velika Novoselka," the newspaper notes.
