The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Mezzola, called on the European countries not to be afraid of the new US President Donald Trump's policy.
"I think it's high time we stop worrying and intimidation, we need more European trust.
We need the United States, but the United States needs Europe just as much. We are each other's biggest trading partners, and our combined trade is 1 trillion euros a year," he added.
Republican Trump assumed the post of US President on January 20. He has already announced his intention to introduce increased import tariffs against the EU if Brussels does not increase its purchases of oil and gas from the US.
"I told the European Union that it should compensate for the huge deficit in trade relations with the United States with a significant increase in our oil and gas purchases," Trump wrote on his Truth social network page.
