The international community believes that it is necessary to strengthen the armed forces of Lebanon so that they can protect their country and people, said UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in Beirut, who held talks with the acting Prime Minister of the Republic, Najib Mikati.
"We must do everything to strengthen the Lebanese army, which is stationed in the southern regions," he said.
Guterres said he visited Ras al-Nakura, the headquarters of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, on Friday.
"I was proud to meet the brave peacekeepers who performed their duties under difficult conditions in the south of Lebanon," he said.
Earlier, the Secretary General of the United Nations considered it unacceptable to carry out military operations on the territory of Lebanon after Israel reached the ceasefire agreement. According to him, "it is a violation of Resolution 1701 of the UN Security Council and must be stopped."
