Germany will participate in the NATO observation in the Baltic Sea

Germany will participate in the NATO monitoring activities in the Baltic Sea. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz told journalists about it in Helsinki, his speech was broadcast on the Welt TV channel.

"Germany will participate in the strengthening of surveillance using its own capabilities. And therefore, we will take appropriate measures to make this possible," Scholz said.

"A whole series of serious incidents took place in the Baltic Sea, which should worry us," he said. The chancellor said that the important infrastructures necessary for the "economic development" of European countries are at risk.

Scholz believes the incidents could be "part of a hybrid strategy" aimed at European countries.

"Therefore, it is important that we are here now to discuss how together we can achieve greater security in the Baltic Sea region," he said.
