Vucic proposed to hold the Putin-Trump meeting in Serbia

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has announced that his country can become a place for further negotiations between the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and the newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump. Both Putin and Trump are popular in Serbia, he said, Kommersant reports.

"I have never interfered in world affairs, but Serbia is interested in becoming a meeting place between the President of Russia and the President of America," Vucic said on Pink TV, adding that he would "talk" with people from the Donald Trump administration.

Earlier today, on January 12, Mike Waltz, the national security adviser of the newly elected US president, said that preparations for the meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are already underway.

He did not specify the date and format of the meeting, but added that he expects telephone conversations between the leaders of the two countries in the coming days or weeks. On January 10, Donald Trump announced that the Russian president expressed his desire to meet with him, and the parties started preparing for the event. Shortly before this, the Kremlin announced that it had not received a contact request from the newly elected US president's team.
