This year, the Yerevan Municipality dismantled the main Christmas tree in the Republic Square ahead of time, which caused the dissatisfaction of the citizens, because in previous years the Christmas tree remained until the old New Year, January 14.

"Since the ceremony of lighting the Christmas tree, the New Year illumination of the city started on December 8 last year, due to this, the Christmas tree is collected earlier this year, as well as the New Year illumination.
In fact, the lights of the Christmas tree and the city's New Year's lighting were turned on for a month," Hayk Kostanyan said in response to our question.
Let's note that in previous years, the lights of the main Christmas tree on the Square were lit on December 19, and it was dismantled after the old New Year.
