South Korea will check the safety of Boeing 737-800 planes

South Korea's military is conducting a safety inspection of aircraft based on the Boeing 737-800 as well as its model following the Dec. 29 crash of the Jeju Air plane, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement. (JCS).

"Yesterday, South Korea's Ministry of Defense ordered special security measures at all levels of units to prevent possible incidents involving Boeing and other aircraft.

As part of this initiative, independent safety inspections have been ordered for all fixed and rotary aircraft operated by the armed forces," JCS spokesperson Lee Sung-joon explained at the briefing.
