High, the strongest X-class flare occurred on the Sun on December 29, the Space Weather Monitoring Center told TASS.

"X1.1 flare was detected in the X-ray range in the morning," said the representative of the center.

Prior to this flare, a whole series of moderate to strong M-class flares had been recorded on the Sun.

Solar flares are divided into five classes, A, B, C, M and X, depending on the power of X-ray radiation.
