The White House considers possible the shooting down of the Baku-Grozny plane by the Russian air defense system

The White House has seen "initial signs" that the Baku-Grozny plane may have been shot down by Russian air defenses.

This was announced by John Kirby, White House strategic communications coordinator.

"The White House has seen preliminary signs that the Baku-Grozny plane could have been shot down by Russian air defense," Kirby told reporters, refusing to provide further details.

The Embraer 190 passenger plane of Azerbaijan Airlines, which was carrying out the Baku-Grozny flight, crashed on December 25 near the Aktau airport in Kazakhstan.

There were 62 passengers and 5 crew members on the plane.

38 people died, 29 people survived.
