Iran is working on a plan to move the capital from Tehran

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian announced at the government meeting the start of the development of the plan to move the capital of the Islamic Republic. This is reported by the ISNA agency.

According to reports, the president has appointed his first deputy Mohammad Reza Aref to be responsible for the preparation of the plan.

"Ignoring this issue may lead to the fact that our country may face an environmental crisis and many other problems in the future," said Pezeshkian.

On September 7, the Iranian president announced the need to move the capital of the Islamic Republic from Tehran to the coast of the Persian Gulf. As the head of state noted, Tehran is currently facing problems that cannot be solved in any other way. Ruhollah Mousavi, a member of Iran's Mejlis (unicameral parliament) domestic policy committee, said the idea was entirely feasible if proper preparations were made.
