The prospect of humanity being destroyed by artificial intelligence is dim. However, this technology is capable of causing enormous damage, and in that case the lives of its creators will be at risk, said Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, reports RBC:the
This is how Medvedev responded to the statements of the leading representatives of the AI industry, including the head of the xAI company, Elon Musk, according to which the development of technology should be stopped in order to avoid fatal consequences for humanity.
Medvedev considered their fears to be real, but noted that the heads of AB companies do not say until the end what they are really afraid of. "The creators of different versions of generative artificial intelligence are not sincere. They fear neither for us nor for Sapiens in general. They are not afraid of the fact that the AI, proud of its power, will destroy humanity. Its perspective is rather vague," he noted.
In his opinion, the scenario is more real, in which the program created on the basis of AB, which is involved in the management of a large production or transport hub, will cause huge damage, for example, it will crash planes or destroy a gas station. "And then they will come after the creators of generative AI," Medvedev added.
According to the deputy chairman of the Security Council, it would be logical to agree on the methods of the settlement of the conflict, but, as Medvedev claims, it will be hindered by "the greed of corporations and the insatiability of human passions".
"Therefore, there is only one thing left: to count on the mercy of the winner. On the humanism that will be displayed by our beloved man-made bag of intelligence, AI.
He has no obvious emotions yet, but what the great superintelligence will be like, we don't know. Maybe I will feel sorry for the parents," he concluded.
