Aircraft refueling restricted at 26 Russian airports

Due to fuel shortages in Russia, aircraft refueling has been restricted at 26 airports, with some allowing Russian and foreign airlines to take on only the amount of fuel needed for one flight.

The Moscow Times, citing Dilo, reports that due to fuel shortages in Russia, aircraft refueling has been restricted at 26 airports in the country. Some of them allow foreign and Russian airlines to take on only the amount of fuel needed for one flight.

The first wave of restrictions was introduced in June, and the second in September. The new rules will be in effect for a period of one to seven months, depending on the airport.

At St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo airport, aircraft refueling will be allowed only in accordance with the flight plan until March 2027, without additional volumes, while at Kaliningrad’s Khrabrovo airport, this procedure will be in effect until December.

The reports indicate that at 15 of the 26 airports, the restrictions apply only to foreign airlines: “The refueling of aircraft of foreign companies is limited to the volume necessary for one flight.”

Similar restrictions are in place at the airports of Kazan, Ufa, Perm, Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen, Irkutsk, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk and Yakutsk.

In southern Russia, restrictions for both domestic and foreign carriers apply in Sochi, Volgograd and Astrakhan, while in Krasnodar they are imposed only for foreign companies.
