A podcast host has been arrested in Los Angeles on charges of threatening US President Donald Trump, the local prosecutor's office said.
"Benjamin Azaria Southworth, 40, was arrested on three charges, including threatening to kill President Trump and harassing his personal lawyer and his family," the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California said in a statement.
According to the investigation, Southworth, whom the prosecutor's office calls the podcast host, had been expressing hatred towards Trump and his supporters on social media from January to May, and in April had posted a video that included calls for retaliation against the American leader.
The defendant in the case faces up to five years in prison for threatening Trump, as well as the same amount for harassing his lawyer, and he could be sentenced to another two years for harassing the lawyer, the prosecutor's office said.
