The situation on Kharg Island is calm, oil-related operations have not stopped, said Hamid Bovard, CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, responding to US President Donald Trump's statement that the island was being hit hard. Reuters reported this, citing a publication by Nournews.
Bovard denied that Iran's main oil hub was being destroyed, as Trump claimed in a post on the Truth Social platform.
"Trump's tweets are ridiculous, and the situation on Kharg is calm and appropriate," he said.
Pashtoyan added that the island had been bombed repeatedly by US and Israeli forces in the past, but oil workers did not allow operations to stop "even for a minute."
Bovard added that contractors are currently rebuilding and upgrading storage tanks and docks.
Kharg Island, which handles 90% of Iran's oil exports, has been described by Trump as "being torn to pieces."
