Foreign woman arrested in Georgia over Abkhaz blogger's death

A foreign woman has been arrested in Georgia on charges of leaving a person in danger as part of the investigation into the death of Daur Buava.reportedfrom the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the department, the detainee and Daur Buava were friends. They were together in Buava's temporary apartment in the Didi-Digomi district of Tbilisi, where they used drugs. After that, both of them felt worse.

As the investigation found out, Buava was in a life-threatening and extremely serious condition, but the detainee left her alone. Before leaving, he locked the apartment from the outside with a second key, then left the scene. Moreover, the woman did not tell other people about what happened and did not ask for help for Buava.

The investigation is being conducted under Articles 115 and 128 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which include incitement to suicide and leaving someone in a dangerous situation. Investigative actions in the case are ongoing.

Daur Buava, 31, became famous for his videos on TikTok. After leaving Abkhazia, he received Georgian citizenship and publicly criticized the Abkhaz authorities, including opposing the republic's ties with Russia. In 2022, a criminal case was opened against him in Abkhazia on charges of high treason. According to Tamta Mikeladze, director of the Center for Social Justice, Buava had repeatedly received threats because of his position.
