Macron called on Trump to "extract concessions" from the Kremlin

French President Emmanuel Macron had a telephone conversation with Donald Trump after his victory in the US elections, in which he called on Russia to make "real concessions" on the issue of Ukraine. This is reportedThe Wall Street Journalthe

"In a 25-minute phone call on Wednesday, Macron pressed Trump to make sure that any diplomacy with Russia on the Ukraine issue would lead to real concessions from the Kremlin," the newspaper wrote, citing sources.

After the victory, the American politician talked with many EU leaders, WSJ notes.

The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, told reporters after the dinner that he and other leaders had conveyed a message to Trump.

"If we are weak with Russia, what message will we send to the rest of the world, including China?" the message reads, the newspaper writes.
