If I had the chance, I would build a statue of an Armenian woman, an Armenian mother, without thinking for a second. Gagik Tsarukyan, the President of PAP, wrote about this from Kentron Correctional Institution.
"Yesterday, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrated the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Holy Mother of God. I am sure that all Armenian churches were full of believers, old and young, parents and children. Unfortunately, I was deprived of the opportunity to participate in that beautiful and bright holiday.
The Armenian Apostolic Church honors women and mothers in a special way, placing the Mother of God at the highest point of the altar, and through her, directing its reverence and respect to all Armenian mothers.
Going through difficulties and trials, a person begins to appreciate his real wealth much more soberly and honestly. Passing through this period of trials and being cut off from the outside world, from contact with my closest people, I feel more clearly and strongly the connection with the most precious people. I feel lucky to have had the gift of motherhood for so many years. I feel lucky to have a good family, a good wife, a lifelong friend, devoted, intelligent and gifted daughters, all of whom are now mothers of many children.
I am going through this period as a phase of appreciating what I have received and have, and on the holiday dedicated to the Mother of God, I just want to be thankful for the human wealth that has come to me in the form of my mother, wife, sister, daughters and my sweet granddaughters who were given to me by God. One cannot ask for more expensive gifts, more expensive wealth. I would like every person to be able to appreciate the good fortune that has come to him and to keep the feeling of gratitude in his heart, regardless of the difficulties brought by the moment. It is this feeling that gives me strength now, it is this feeling that helps me look ahead with faith.
Months ago, when asked by a young student, who else would you build a statue of if you had the chance, I answered without a second's thought: an Armenian woman, an Armenian mother. With all due respect to all the mothers of the world, I emphasized and emphasize the Armenian woman as a friend, as a mother, as a pillar of the family and the state. Now, without hesitation, I will repeat the same.
May God protect us all," he said.
