The head of the government of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, responded to the words of former president Mikheil Saakashvili. The latter, being in prison, announced that regardless of the time spent in prison, he would be released just as the former leader of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, came to power immediately from prison.
"Saakashvili is a phenomenon that should be evaluated not by politicians, but by experts in other fields. This person is completely disconnected from everything related to common sense. It was like that when he held the position of president for nine years, it was like that when he joined the opposition, and today his situation has become more difficult. This is one of the assessments that I can give," Kobakhidze said in a conversation with journalists.
According to the Prime Minister, Saakashvili used to compare himself with the Georgian King Davit Shinarar, which, according to him, also indicates that he is detached from reality.
In Georgia, five criminal cases have been opened against Saakashvili, related to the beating of deputy Valery Gelashvili, pardoning those convicted in the murder of bank employee Sandro Girgvliani, embezzlement of state funds, dispersing the 2007 protest and illegal border crossing. According to the four verdicts, his prison term is set until 2034.
