Larry the cat waits for the new British Prime Minister Burnham in front of the residence

Britain's chief mouse hunter, Larry the Cat, is waiting for new Prime Minister Andy Burnham to arrive at Downing Street on Monday and open the door for him to enter. There are photos of a cat sitting on the threshold of the Prime Minister's residence and carefully looking at the closed door on Larry's X social network.

"One day you'll have to open that door anyway," the photo caption reads. Earlier, Shabana Mahmud, the chairman of the National Executive Committee of the Labor Party, announced that Burnham was elected as the new leader of the party.

The transfer of the post of Prime Minister is expected to take place on Monday. Larry the cat, who was adopted from a shelter, has been serving at the British Prime Minister's residence since 2011. Cats have lived in the residences of British rulers since the 15th century.

For almost 100 years, since 1929, they have had official status and receive a salary of £100 a year.
