According to CNN Türk, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan may announce on Friday the resale of S-400 air defense missile systems supplied from Russia in 2017 to a third country.
The pro-government Hurriyet newspaper reported that according to its sources, the S-400s will be resold to one of the Persian Gulf countries, most likely to the UAE or Qatar. In 2017, Turkey bought four battalions of S-400 air defense systems from Russia for $2.5 billion.
In October 2019, "Rosoboronexport" (which is part of the state corporation "Rostech") announced that the contract for the supply of systems was fulfilled. After the signing of the contract for the supply of the S-400 regiment between Turkey and Russia, Ankara was removed from the US F-35 fighter program.
