More than 100 animals have disappeared from a Chinese zoo in southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which were "washed away" by floods caused by typhoon "Maysak," the Chinese state-run Global Times newspaper reported.
On July 4-6, Typhoon Maysak brought torrential rains, causing water levels in many rivers in southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to exceed dangerous levels and dams in several reservoirs to be damaged or breached.
Regional authorities have raised the level of flood danger to the highest level, red. "More than 100 animals of more than 20 species, including zebras and sika deer, have gone missing from a zoo in Guigan City, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, due to floods caused by Typhoon Maysak."
Three lions of the zoo also died during the flood," the publication reported, referring to the zoo employee.
