The government banned the export of ferrous and non-ferrous metal scrap from Armenia for 6 months

A temporary ban on the transportation of a number of goods from RA to EAEU countries and export to third countries has been applied.
The corresponding decision was adopted at today's session of the government. The justification states that the adoption of this decision is due to the need to regulate the export of used goods made of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, to develop local production and provide a raw material base, as well as to stimulate the activity of Armenia's processing industry through new investments. :

The experience of recent years has shown that working with scrap or preparations of imported ferrous and non-ferrous metals as raw materials is economically unprofitable, as their prices are high. As a result, the final product produced with imported raw materials has a high cost and becomes uncompetitive even in the domestic market.

In addition, due to the high prices formed in the EAEU common market in recent years, intensive export processes of ferrous and non-ferrous metal scrap from Armenia were observed.

Some EAEU countries have also banned or restricted the export of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including to the EAEU countries. Accordingly, a decision was made to temporarily (for a period of 6 months) ban the export of scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, as well as some used products made of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. export of goods.
