In a congratulatory message addressed to the newly elected supreme leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Iran is facing armed aggression and that the actions of the head of state will require great courage and commitment.
The corresponding telegram was published on the website of the Kremlin.
"Now that Iran is facing armed aggression, your actions in this high position will undoubtedly require great courage and commitment," the cable said.
