EU countries must spend 6.8 trillion euros on military equipment by 2035

European Union countries will have to spend €6.8 trillion on military equipment by 2035 if they meet their commitments to raise military spending from GNP to 5% of GDP. This was announced by the European Commissioner for Defense and Space Affairs, Andrews Kubilius, during a speech at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

"EU countries will have to spend 6.8 trillion euros on defense by 2035, if they fulfill their obligations within the framework of NATO," Kubilius said. According to him, the European Commission considers that the main task of the community countries is to "produce, produce and again produce" military equipment.
