The second round of presidential elections will be held in Portugal

The second round of presidential elections will take place in Portugal. Two candidates who received the greatest support of the voters in the first round will compete for the highest state position. They are Andre Ventura, the leader of the far-right "Chega" ("Enough") party, and Antonio José Seguru, the former general secretary of the "Socialist Party".

Polling stations will open at 08:00 local time (11:00 Moscow time) and will be open until 19:00 (22:00 Moscow time). It is expected that the preliminary results of the vote will be published during the night.

The holding of the second round of the presidential elections became necessary because none of the candidates could get more than 50 percent of the votes in the first round. The last time such a situation was registered in 1986.
