Secretary General of the Diplomatic Service of the European Union Belen Martínez Carbonel stated that Europe is already in a state of war with Russia.
"We are already in a state of war with Russia. If we talk about a war with the conscription of citizens of European countries and their participation in combat operations on the front line, I prefer to think that this will not happen," he said in an interview with Pais newspaper.
According to him, it is necessary for the European Union to achieve a "just and stable peace", and for this, the support of the USA will be needed. Martínez Carbonell noted that Europeans should understand the change in priorities, because strengthening defense will require a redistribution of resources and may mean giving up certain comforts of ordinary life.
