British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, in a conversation with US President Donald Trump, called his decision to impose tariffs on eight European countries, including the United Kingdom, due to disagreements over Greenland wrong.
This is stated in the statement issued by the office of the head of the British government.
"The Prime Minister had a number of telephone conversations this evening. He talked with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Then he talked with President Trump," the statement said.
It is noted that during the phone conversations, Starmer reaffirmed his position regarding Greenland. He said that security in the Upper North is a priority for all NATO members to protect Euro-Atlantic interests.
He also said that imposing tariffs on allies to ensure collective security is a mistake," the message reads.
