The first test launch of the new Soyuz-5 rocket from the Baikonur space station in Kazakhstan, which was planned for the end of 2025, did not take place and was postponed. Euronews informs about it.
The project's partners, the Russian state corporation Roscosmos and Kazakhstan's national space agency Kazcosmos, have decided to conduct additional checks of both systems and ground equipment.
"The decision to postpone the launch of the missile is of a technical nature, the participants of the joint Russian-Kazakh Baiterek space project intend to ensure the stable operation of the systems in both normal and non-normal modes, as well as to ensure the readiness of flight tests and the safety of the first launch of the missile," it is stated in the message.
Roscosmos confirmed that the Bayterek program is in its final stages, but did not specify a new date for the launch of Soyuz-5, adding that it will be determined based on the results of a review of all procedures agreed by the program participants.
